the farewell five

It is with a heavy heart that I announce the closing of this chapter.

On a personal note, it’s been an interesting, long and challenging journey since my husband and I bought the property several years ago. I remember saying, “yes, I will take care of everything for the horses (all while working fulltime).” Fast forward to today and I’ve learned that was an unreasonable undertaking for even the most dedicated multitasker.

For those of you who don’t know, my primary profession has been in the world of mental health, mostly working with schools to support our youth. As I developed Erica Hills Photography (starting during the pandemic in 2020), I learned more about what I truly value in life.

It’s not about the popularity of hosting photography retreats, the fame of being published in magazines or covering international level shows at world class facilities. For me, it’s about having as much flexible time to spend with family, friends and other creatives who want to make a difference in our community and world at large.

My favorite has always been presenting clients with their final galleries and wall art; getting to watch them admire their horse with tears in their eyes was as special to me as it was for them. With that said, as a way to formally end this chapter I will be offering private client portrait and wall art design opportunities for 5 clients through May 2024.

Booking dates and deposits will need to be completed by end of February to hold your spot.

What will I be doing next? Well, I’m going to continue taking the necessary steps to sit for the board of Florida licensure exam for clinical mental health and go from there. As far as creativity, I’ll be maintaining a leadership and photography role with The Equestrians of Color Photography Project.

Thank you to everyone that I’ve worked with over the years and I look forward to an enjoyable, memorable farewell five sessions to those who schedule.

Wall art options include dye sublimation onto aluminum, custom framing and canvas. See below for the studio canvas sample which can be viewed in person during your home consultation.
